Extension Care guide |

Care Instructions

  • • Using the given brush, gently brush hair starting from the ends. Never begin brushing your hair at the root. Hold the hair at the base of the attachments before brushing to reduce tension.

    • Brush your hair regularly, at a minimum of 2x per day.

    • Separate row at least once a day when brushing to make sure no matting is occuring.

  • • Be gentle with your hair. If wearing your hair in a bun or ponytail style, if there is any tension or pain, your style is too tight. Lower ponytails and styles that keep the attachments at natural fall are advised.

    • Avoid heat at the root attachment of extensions. Heat at the attachments will ruin your hair extensions.

    • Always use a heat protectant.

    • We recommend the BioIonic Curling Iron and BioIonic Flat Iron for healthy heat styling.

  • • Brush your hair thoroughly with your extension brush before bed. (You should have received one at your new install appointment.)

    • Apply recommended oil or serum through your ends.

    • Place hair in a double braid, single braid, or low pony to ensure there is no tension on your scalp. (I usually need a week after a fresh install before I start placing it in a top-knot.)

•If placing in a top knot, flip hair over so top of head is parallel to the floor, and pull into top knot from that position.

    •Sleep on a silk pillowcase.

  • • Wash your hair standing in the shower, never in the bath or upside-down.

    • First, rinse hair thoroughly before shampooing to remove buildup. Wash gently with the pads of your fingers, gently exfoliating your scalp. Do not scrub in round motions around the attachments; this will cause tangling.

    • Shampoo between rows and underneath the bottom row. Separate rows, if necessary, with a clip.

    • Shampoo hair no less than every 3-4 days. Keep your scalp clean and without excess oil buildup. Treat your scalp like your face; hair cannot grow properly if you have a dirty scalp.

•Brush the hair gently, apply oil, and leave-in-conditioner to the ends before blow-drying. This will avoid tangling after the shower.

  • • Always dry your hair after washing. Do not leave your hair wet. If you’re going to air dry, ensure you blow dry the attachments thoroughly first. Squeeze water out of the extensions, do not rub. Do not brush through hair until 90% dry. Hair is most fragile when wet!

    • Use a metal round brush only; natural bristle brushes will cause too much tension on the hair and scalp.

  • • If you are going on vacation, swimming in a pool or the ocean, working out, etc., we advise you to braid your extensions for the duration of the activity. As soon as you are done, take your hair down and wash and dry it thoroughly. Leaving hair up and wet, even with sweat, for a period of time will cause tangling.

    • You should never go on a boat, ride in a convertible, or any other windy scenario without your hair in a braid to prevent matting.
